Project on construction of high-speed railway Astana-Almaty presented in Beijing

The Deputy Minister of Railways of China told about the history of the country's high-speed railways development.

President of JSC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy Askar Mamin told that many railway routes had been considered but the final decision was still to be made.

The advanced world technologies will be used for the construction of the road which is to allow passenger trains to run with the speed of more than 350 km ph. It will help reduce travel time to 4 hours.

The project provides for construction of a new railway station in Astana city and passenger terminals at intermediate stations in the cities of Karaganda and Balkhash. The railway station in Almaty city is expected to be reconstructed.

A Cooperation Memorandum between JSC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and Ministry of Railways of China on construction of the high-speed railway in Kazakhstan is expected to be signed as a result of the work.
