Presidents of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to meet in Khujand for historic trilateral summit
On March 31, the city of Khujand will host a historic trilateral summit of the presidents of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Edil Baisalov, during the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Kazinform News Agency reports.
According to Edil Baisalov, the first-ever trilateral summit of the heads of state of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will become an important step towards strengthening the regional cooperation.
He also informed the meeting participants of signing the final border delimitation protocol between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
“This event is a triumph of diplomacy and political will. We have proved that even most pressing issues can be solved through dialogue, mutual respect and trust,” he said.
Previously, it was reported that on February 21, heads of government delegations of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan – Kamchybek Tashiyev and Saimumin Yatimov - signed a final protocol on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border delimitation and initialed a number of agreements.
