Presidential elections became triumph for our national unity - Nazarbayev

"Early presidential elections became a triumph for our national unity. People's Assembly of Kazakhstan played an important role. At its last session the Assembly first put forward the initiative to extend the powers of the President," Nazarbayev noted.

The President noted that thousands of members of the Assembly, regional Assemblies, almost all ethnic and cultural associations worked in his campaign staff. "I am grateful to all of them for their invaluable contribution to our common fateful victory," he emphasized.

In his opinion, the election results represent a natural result of 20 years of Kazakhstan's independence. "After the presidential elections I have received and continue receiving congratulations from our citizens of all ethnic groups and nationalities. In each line which I read though carefully I see the belief in the inviolability and unity of our people, deep faith in the successful future of our country and our children. I heartily thank all Kazakhstanis for the warmth of their letters and telegrams," Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
