President visited concert of Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra in Astana

ASTANA. May 1. KAZINFORM /Kanat Kulshmanov/ A concert of the Symphony Orchestra of the Marrinsky Theatre under the direction of the world famous conductor Valery Gergiev is being held at the Kazakhstan Concert Hall in Astana presently. President Nursultan Nazarbayev is attending it.

Soloists are Denis Matsuev and Ekaterina Semenchuk .

The event is organized within the X Moscow Easter Festival being held from April 24 till May 9. The program of the Festival provides for more than 100 concerts in 40 cities of Russia, as well as in Lithuania, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

"Valery Gergiev is not only the chief conductor and artistic director of the Mariinsky Theater, but he is the person who has made a great contribution to the development of the world culture", Minister of Culture Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed said at the press conference.

Tomorrow the Mariinsky Theater will perform in Almaty and will give a concert for the students of the music schools after which it will leave for Ufa.

"It's a great pleasure for us to be a part of cultural program in Kazakhstan", V. Gergiev noted.
