President urged to start implementation of ‘Balapan’ Preschool Education Program

DYKORGAN. January 29. KAZINFORM /Sandugash Duisenova/ President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev urged to start implementation of special program "Balapan" on preschool education. All children from both urban and rural areas must be covered with preschool education up to 2020. Such an instruction was given by the Head of the State to the Government in his annual address to the nation.

As Head of the Education System Administration of Almaty region Lyazzat Bazarkulova informed the authorized body will start implementation of the program as soon as it receives its project.

"Now we jointly with akimats continue work on opening of preschool institutions through new construction and reconstruction of former day-care facilities, use of first floors of residential buildings as well as the creation of mini-centers under secondary schools and extension of contingent for present preschool institutions", she said.

43 day-care institutions and 77 mini-centers will be opened in the region in 2010 whereas the level of covering children aged 1-6 years with preschool education will reach 34.4%. 15,100 children will be covered with preschool education in whole. KZT 2 bln was allocated from the regional budget for this purpose.

As a whole, there are 80 day-care institutions with 11,558 children in Almaty. Besides, there are also 286 mini day-care centers with 9,562 children. In such a way, only 21.5% of children from 21,120 ones living in the region are covered with preschool education.
