President suggests to introduce quotas for greenhouse gas emissions

KOSTANAY. June 12. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ ?Trading with quotas for greenhouse gas emissions within the Kyoto Protocol could be one of the alternative sources of financing for Kazakhstan?, President Nursultan Nazarbayev announced at the XXI plenary session of the Foreign Investors Council.
?Kazakhstan ratified the Protocol in March this year. It opens new opportunities to develop energy-efficient technologies which will allow attracting about USD 1 bln of investments?, the President said.
The President urged to work out the mechanisms of trading with quotas for greenhouse gas emission in Kazakhstan, and study the opportunities to organize a special trading floor.
