President participated in inauguration of monument to Kerey and Zhanibek, first Kazakh Khans

ASTANA. June 1. KAZINFORM /Rassul Bakhamov/ Today President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev participated in inauguration of a monument to the founders of the Kazakh Khanate Kerey and Zhanibek in Astana. At the ceremony the Head of the State laid flowers to the monument.

The12 m height monument was established in front of the Museum of the First Kazakh President. A composition on the pedestal draws attention to two figures symbolizing birth of the new Khanate, new life and triumph of freedom. Kerey, as the first Khan of the Kazakhs, is depicted sitting in a saddle removed just from the Khan's horse. His inner energy embodies wisdom, creativity and stability. Zhanibek Khan depicted in full length embodies pride, strength and bravery. The composition includes also a flag rising up in the hands of the great Khans.
The idea on erection of the monument to Kerey and Zhanibek belongs to President of Kazakhstan Nurusltan Nazarbayev.
