President of Tajikistan touches down in Astana for SCO Summit
The President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon arrived in Astana to participate in the upcoming summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Kazinform News Agency cites the Kazakh Government.


Emomali Rakhmon will participate in the SCO summit, slated for 3-4 July.
Tajikistan has been a member of the SCO since its inception in 2001. Over the past five years, the volume of trade between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan has increased by 48.2% and reached $1.1 billion. Within the SCO framework, a consistent growth in this indicator has been observed between all member states over the same period, from $42 billion in 2019 to $66 billion in 2023.

The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, the President of Mongolia, Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh, the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, have already arrived in Kazakhstan to participate in the SCO summit.
The Chairman of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping arrived in Astana on 2 July. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev greeted the Chinese leader at the Astana airport.
He is also set to participate in the 24th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO.
