President Nazarbayev visits Astana air defense unit

ASTANA. May 6. KAZINFORM /Serik Sabekov/ On the eve of the Fatherland Defender's Day and 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has visited a military unit #44813 providing air defense for Astana.
Deputy Commander of Kazakhstan's Air Defense Forces Major-General Okas Saparov acquainted the Head of the State with the air defense system of Astana. In particular, the President surveyed the work of the antiaircraft missile battalion. Actions of combat crews of multipurpose missile system on defeating of air attacks were demonstrated to the President. Flights of Mi-17 helicopter, 4th generation SU-27s and MiG-31 fighter jets were also demonstrated.
Then, the Kazakh leader held a brief talk with the personnel of the military unit.
