President Nazarbayev has harsh words for Labor Ministry, heads of regions

The Kazakh Leader was not happy with the work done in terms of implementation of the Employment-2020 Program.

"Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population should work harder on the Employment-2020 Program. The program should provide population with workplaces," Nursultan Nazarbayev said on Tuesday (July 3) at the Astana Industrial Forum.

According to President Nazarbayev, the government allotted KZT 9 billion to the southern regions of the country for the implementation of the program. This year financing of the program was doubled. "However, only 2% or 25 000 people were employed. 40 000 people underwent training under the program and only half of them found jobs. It turns out we raise people's hopes, train them, but can not offer a decent job," the Head of State noted.

"The Ministry and akims fail to control the situation with the program at the local level. I ask the Presidential Administration to report on the situation every month," Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
