According to the presidential press service, the Kazakh Leader made the following statement at the session.

"A tragedy occurred at Arkankergen border outpost in Almaty region. As a result, 15 people including 14 soldiers and one huntsman died," Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

"In my opinion, this is an act of terror. Perhaps it all happened because of internal conflicts. It is too early to make conclusions. The whole place burnt out, the bodies of dead soldiers were found in fire debris. When such things happen in the time of peace, a close investigation is required," he noted.

"At this moment a special commission is dealing with the incident and examining all facts. The head of military procurator's office has initiated a criminal case. The central and local law enforcement agencies are doing their best to cast light on the circumstances of this case and apprehend the alleged criminals. The commission is working right on the spot."

"I have given the instructions to investigate the circumstances of the incident. After that appropriate measures will be taken. I instruct the Government to help and support the families of victims."

"I express my condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims," Nursultan Nazarbayev added.
