Presentation of Kazakhstan's bid to host EXPO-2017 held in Vienna

ASTANA. September 28. KAZINFORM On September 26, 2012, under the auspices of Reinhold Mitterlehner, the Austrian Federal Minister of Economy, Family and Youth, the ministerial conference titled «Caucasus and Central Asia - Promoting sustainable growth in times of global economic challenges» took place in Vienna, according to the press service of the MFA of Kazakhstan.

The event was attended by the heads of the economic agencies of Central Asia and the Caucasus, as well as the representatives of international organizations such as the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the European Commission, the European Investment Bank and others. Kazakh delegation was headed by Aidar Kazybaev, the Chairman of the Committee of Trade under the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Kazakhstan.

The Conference reviewed and discussed topics such as trade, investment, energy, tourism, and also the prospects of increasing cooperation between Austria EU, as a whole, and  Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Given that one of the sessions of the conference was dedicated to energy efficiency, A.Kazybaev, Head of Kazakhstan's delegation, appealed to the representatives of the International Energy Agency of OECD and the Energy Charter Secretariat, who also attended the Conference, in order to obtain their support to EXPO-2017 theme «Energy for the future», proposed by Kazakhstan, bidding to host this world exhibition in Astana.

Within the event A.Kazybaev met with the representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Family and Youth of Austria and the Economic Chamber of Austria on issues  EXPO-2017 and different aspects of bilateral trade-economic relations.

At the Office of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Austria the presentation of Kazakhstan's bid to host EXPO-2017 was organized, which was attended by Ambassadors, senior diplomats and honorary consuls of the International Exhibitions Bureau Member States from Asia, Africa, Latin America, Oceania, where Kazakhstan has no diplomatic missions, and also the representatives of the Austrian Foreign Ministry, the Economic Chamber and the media. A.Kazybaev, the Chairman of the Committee of Trade under the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Kazakhstan, who delivered the keynote speech during the presentation, informed in detail the participants about benefits of holding the exhibition in Astana in 2017.
