Preparation for 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan's Independence discussed in Akorda

ASTANA. January 31. KAZINFORM The motto of the year 2011 in Kazakhstan will be "20 Years of Peace and Creation", Head of the State Nursultan Nazarbayev announced at the sitting in Akorda devoted to the issues of preparation for the 20th anniversary of the Kazakhstan's Independence.

"The year 2011 is a historic milestone in the development of independent Kazakhstan. 2011 was officially announced the year of the 20^th anniversary of the country's independence. A huge amount of work in various areas is planned. Everything should be done without formalism, formulaic approach, and excessive pomposity", the President emphasized.

N. Nazarbayev instructed the Government to prepare a decree "On the jubilee medal to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan". Citizens who have made significant contribution to the development of Kazakhstan and strengthening of its independence will be awarded this medal.

As reported earlier, the State Commission on preparation for the anniversary is headed by Secretary of State - Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Kanat Saudabayev. The President noted that the commission should consolidate efforts of the state bodies, NGOs and business. According to Mr. Nazarbayev, each month will be devoted to a specific theme. The climax of the celebration of the 20^th anniversary of Independence will be twenty days till December 16.
