Premier held visiting session on pharmaceutics in S Kazakhstan

The Commission started its work at "Himfarm" JSC.  The issues of the development of the pharmaceutical complex within the forced industrial-innovative development program were discussed here. To date the leadership of the country sets strategic goals on the development of the pharmaceutical sector, including provision of 50% of the domestic requirements in medicaments by means of the domestic medicaments producers, introduction of the world standards at the pharmaceutical enterprises by 2014.

As a developing sector, the pharmaceutical industry of Kazakhstan is represented by 79 manufacturers of medical and pharmaceutical products. The share of the five biggest plants of the country is over 90% of all medicaments produced in Kazakhstan.

The rate of the domestic producers increased from 3% to 10% in 15 years. The work on expansion of home pharmaceutical production is ongoing. A program on organization of the production of vaccines, insulin, antibiotics and other medicaments will be adopted in December. Construction of pharmaceutical manufactories in Astana and Shymkent is scheduled as well.
