Posters with Stalin not to appear in Moscow on May 9

The organising committee on preparing for the celebration of the 65th anniversary of the V-Day does not plan to produce and display any photos, vide clips or other advertising materials pertaining to Stalin, reported a source at the organising committee; Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.

Late in February, head of the Moscow Committee on advertising, information and decoration of the city Vladimir Makarov told reporters that information posters, containing Stalin's image or reference information on his role in the war, would be installed at requests of war veterans at their meeting places. The committee retorted that information would be neutral, containing no assessment of Stalin's role in history.

Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov backed this idea. "I'm no devotee of Stalin, but I honour objective history," said Luzhkov. In the mayor's opinion, while recalling the victory, it is necessary to call "proportionally all who ran the state, indicating their role in the history of the war, in restoring the national economy after the war".
