Police detain man with 70 kg of illegal drugs

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - October 3, at about 3 p.m. in the framework of "Astana - city without drugs" action plan and "Koknar" campaign police officers detained a 34-year-old resident of Shu with 70 kg of illegal drugs.
During search operations officers of the Anti-Narcotics Department of Internal Affairs of Astana have apprehended a man who had 70 kg of marijuana. Criminal case under the article 259 part 3 of the Criminal Code was initiated. The investigation is underway.
Currently, officers of the Anti-Narcotics Department are setting special search operations in order to establish the supply chain and the scheme of drug trafficking.
The detainee was put into a temporary detention center of Astana city.
From the beginning of the year, officers of Internal Affairs Dept of the capital have identified 170 drug-related crimes. More than 140 kg of various narcotic drugs, including 23 kg of heroin, have been seized from illicit trafficking.
