PM to visit ‘Iliysky’ training center

ALMATY. August 19. KAZINFORM Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov is to visit training center 'Iliysky' on August 21. As it was reported earlier special tactical-peacekeeping drills Steppe Eagle 2010 are held at the center which will last up to 27th of August.

Joint drills have been held since 2003. It is the 8^th time it is held. The militaries of Kazakhstan, the USA and Great Britain are taking part in them. They are in a peacekeeping missions in the area of conflict in the multinational forces. Around 1000 militants are involved in the drills.

Minister of Defense Adilbek Dzhaksybekov will show the Premier training rooms, armament and equipment they possess including off-road vehicles Hummer, helicopters Huey-2, personal equipment and arms, mine detecting units, protection and communication equipment, airborne equipment, etc.

Kazakh peacekeeping brigade Kazbat will stage and demonstrate battle scenes of detection and neutralization of improvised explosive devices, repelling the assault of the terrorists, etc. Besides, the personnel will demonstrate how a peacekeeping base must be protected and defended.
