Plenary session of CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly kicks off in St. Petersburg

SAINT PETERSBURG. November 29. KAZINFORM The 39th plenary session of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly has kicked off in Saint Petersburg this morning.

Heads of parliament of the CIS member states and other parliamentarians are in attendance. Kazakhstani delegation is represented by Senate Speaker of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev and Majilis Speaker of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan Nigmatulin.

25 issues are expected to be reviewed during the CIS IPA plenary session, including the legal provision of formation of the international ecological security system.

The international conference "Nuclear security in the modern world. Role of parliamentarians in the process of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation" is set to be held in Saint Petersburg as well. An exhibition on nuclear security will take place as a part of the conference.

The event was initiated by the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
