Photo exhibit on 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations took place in Singapore
The chief guest of the event was Kasiviswanathan Shanmugam, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Singapore.
The photo exhibition included archival photographs illustrating the formation of the Kazakh-Singaporean foreign contacts and the development of economic relations between the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic ties on March 30 1993.
K.Shanmugam in his opening speech noted that Singapore and Kazakhstan might create an economic bridge between the Central and South-East Asia. He added that the interest of Singapore to explore new business opportunities in Kazakhstan was growing, and Kazakhstan is the largest trading partner of the island state in Central Asia.
Yerlan Baudarbek-Kozhatayev, the Kazakh Ambassador to Singapore, mentioned the increase of bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and Singapore by 60 percent, amounting to USD 86.2 million (dollars) in 2012 and expressed hope for further strengthening of trade and economic ties.
