Penal system officers congratulate 94-year-old veteran of WWII

Vladimir Likhachev 24 years served in police and penal system. This year he will celebrate his 94th anniversary. At the beginning of the war he served as a gunner in 408th heavy anti-tank artillery regiment of the Moscow military district. In 1942 he served in the 1st Shock Army of 23d Guards rifle division. "In 1943 in Podolsk, Moscow region, I received a gunshot wound to the chest and thigh. I was taken to the nearest hospital that was deployed in a building of a school. After the treatment I returned to the front line," said the veteran. Vladimir Likhachev was awarded "Red Star" Order, the medal "For Victory over Germany", "For Military Merit", "For development of virgin lands", "1st degree Order of the Patriotic War", "2nd degree Order of the Patriotic War", order "For bravery", "For the defense of Moscow", "For the capture of Königsberg", and the order "For Labor".
