The IndiGo air company flight from Mumbai to Delhi caught fire at Delhi's T1 terminal while landing and the injured passengers have been rushed to nearby hospitals, said the Times Now TV channel.

The incident was caused by a problem in the plane's landing gear that caused thick smoke to emanate after touching down at the airport, said Press Trust of India, Xinhua reported.

Aviation incident in India is rare. The latest major incident took place in 2010 when a passenger plane from the Gulf crashed at an airport in the western state of Karnataka, killing over 200.
