Parliament ratifies agr’t with China on building waterworks facility on Khorgos River

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Today at the plenary session of the Senate deputies have ratified the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the People's Republic of China on cooperation in building a joint combined waterworks facility "Dostyk" on the river Khorgos.
According to the Committee on Agriculture, Environment and Rural Development, the main purpose of the agreement is to deal with questions concerning the building of "Dostyk" waterworks. The agreement will be valid within the period of the construction. "Dostyk" waterworks facility is planned to be installed on Khorgos River in the distance of 24.5 kilometers from Khorgos border crossing point. Joint waterworks facility to be owned by the state parties which will halve the expenses. Management and operation issues will be governed by a separate international agreement which is to be concluded by the parties.
