Overflowing river floods village in W Kazakhstan rgn

Overflowing Shyngyrlau River has flooded homes in Aksu village, Borlinskiy district, West Kazakhstan region, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

According to the regional National Met Office Kazhydromet division in West Kazakhstan region, the Shyngyrlau River overflowed its banks near the village of Kentubek, Borlinskiy district, exceeding its maximum capacity of 700 centimeters.

As the district administration said, 46 houses were flooded and around 150 people were evacuated in Aksu village due to the rising water levels in the Shyngyrlau River.

Rising water levels have also been recorded in the region's Derkol, Shagan, Bykovka, Zhaiyk, Karaozen and Saryozen rivers.

Ice explosion works are underway in the Shyngyrlau River… In Aksai town, works are ongoing to create barriers to meltwater, said the Borlinskiy district administration.

Earlier it was reported that due to rise in river water levels the state of emergency was declared in Syrymskiy and Borlinskiy districts in West Kazakhstan region.
