LONDON. June 8. KAZINFORM The majority of City economists polled by the Financial Times believe that the recession in the UKis over for now but the UK government remains cautious about it, the Financial Times reported on Monday; Kazinform cites Xinhua.
In a survey conducted at the end of last week, 11 of 20 City economists said that the British economy had stopped contracting in June and was likely to start growing in coming months.
The survey suggests that the government's forecast in the Budget that growth would return only by the fourth quarter of this year may have been too pessimistic, the report said.
Meanwhile, it also said that the UK Treasury remains cautious about declaring premature victory over the recession; Kazinform has learnt from Xinhua.
