"We have created the military necessary to the country. The country enjoys peace and harmony," Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

Defense Minister A. Dzhaksybekov told Kazinform agency about promotion of combat effectiveness of the Kazakh army.

Mr Dzhaksybekov, in recent years they say about the need of technical re-equipment of Kazakhstan's army. What are the prospects of our own defense industry?

For a variety of reasons until recently Kazakhstan's army was entirely import-dependent. But last year, the military-industrial complex, integrated into the national company Kazakhstan Engineering was transferred to the management of the Defense Ministry. The situation started to change. We assist enterprises of the domestic military-industrial complex in their growth by making orders, searching for modern technologies and companies willing to work in joint ventures and transfer their technologies. Together with the military enterprises we have defined projects on production of ammunition, communications equipment, and certain types of weapons.

Last year Astana hosted KADEX-2010 first international exhibition of arms and military equipment, involving 156 companies. The exhibition has become a 'launching pad' for future cooperation between Kazakhstani producers and leading international companies in the defense industry. We hope that the number of participants in KADEX-2012 next year will significantly increase.

What about the implementation of the President's instructions on establishing a system of preparation of the mobilization reserve, modern training of servicemen?

In June 2010 we opened Spassk military training center in Karaganda region. All in all in 2010 this and other training centers prepared 1,200 men liable for infantry troops, signal communication troops and special forces.

About 4,000 servicemen will be trained in these centers this year. Three more centers in the cities of Taraz, Aktau and Semei were established in order to improve the system of training and accumulation of a trained reserve.

On the eve of the May holidays Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev visited the training center in Spassk. He praised the level of organization of reserve training, material base and center infrastructure.

As is known, Kazakh pilot personnel study at the main in the Russian military educational institutions. What is done to expand military air manpower training in Kazakhstan?

Currently, Kazakhstanis study at the Kazakh Military Institute of the Air Defense Forces, Krasnodar Air Force Military School, Syzran Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots of the Russian Federation, and Chelyabinsk Higher Military Aviation School for Navigators.

In 2010 in order to reduce the number of pilots studying abroad the country's military higher institutions underwent optimization. The personnel pass training in the Aktobe Military Institution of the Air Defense Forces.

What could you say about the Kazakh Marine Forces?

On April 2, 1993 the President of Kazakhstan decreed the establishment of the Marine Forces of Kazakhstan. Presently, the Naval Forces of Kazakhstan has been developing and updating its organization and establishment. The personnel pass training abroad and in the country. Last year we laid down the first hull of the combat ship. This year we started construction of the second hull. Those ships will meet the internationally recognized standards. We also plan construction of auxiliary support ships.

It is also planned to launch surveillance systems with the use of radar installations, dual-frequency identification sonar in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea to monitor the region.

Thank you for the interview.
