OSCE Summit to be impetus aimed at future – Russia expects positive changes from Summit
Expectations of Russian and Kazakh experts from the Summit were discussed at the 'round table' on the topic 'From Helsinki to Astana. Expectations from the OSCE Summit'.
According to Director of Department of European Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Vladimir Voronkov, the cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan is truly ideal within presidency of Kazakhstan in the OSCE, and Russia expects a lot from the Summit in Astana.
'We can say now that the presidency of Kazakhstan is successful. It means that the atmosphere in the Euro-Atlantic region within the OSCE has become better, more favorable. We believe that the Summit will strengthen the situation which has been founded on nonconfrontation for the past year and a half. We also expect that upon the results of the Summit the understanding between all the 56 countries will increase', he said.
Besides, he emphasized that Russian side wanted this Summit to become a uniting factor that would help enter a new level of partnership and consolidate the reached results in regard of positive climate in the Euro-Atlantic region.
'We should start with the questions of common concern. From this point of view this Summit will be an impetus for the future development. It is to increase the OSCE role and it is seen through the transformation of the OSCE into a new level of Organization', V. Voronkov emphasized.
