OSCE starts monitoring Kyrgyz's presidential election campaigns

BISHKEK. September 16. KAZINFORM The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) began monitoring the upcoming presidential election campaigns in Kyrgyzstan, an OSCE official said Friday; Kazinform refers to Xinhua.
A long-term mission, including 42 members, will work in different parts of the country, the mission chief Corien Jonker said at a press conference.
Preparations for the presidential elections, which are scheduled on Oct. 30, will be assessed and the presidential campaigns will be monitored in accordance with OSCE standards and local laws, Jonker said.
OSCE member states have also been asked to send in 350 short-term monitors to assess transparency of voting and vote counting during the polling days, she said; Kazinform cites Xinhua.
