OSCE Seminar to promote development of e-voting system – K. Turgankulov

NNA. September 17. KAZINFORM /Timur Bekturganov/ The OSCE Seminar will consider prospects of development of electronic voting system in the member countries of the Organization. It will show all the problems and prior goals the solution to which is to promote adherence to the principles of democratic elections under the use of mentioned systems. Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan Kuandyk Turgankulov said it at the two-day OSCE Seminar on e-voting issues in the Hofburg Palace on September 16.

Mr. Turgankulov called on all the participants for active exchange of theoretical and practical experience of e-voting system use.

The Seminar 'Present State and Prospects of Application of Electronic Voting in the OSCE participating states' was organized at the initiative of Kazakhstan within its presidency in the Organization and appeared to be one of the main initiatives of our country within humanitarian dimension of the OSCE.

At this seminar the participants are expected to consider all forms, means and methods of e-voting, advantages and disadvantages of work with it based on experience, functional and technical standards of its use. Several sessions are dedicated to discussing the issues on legal regulations and monitoring the process of e-voting and prospects of its development in the OSCE member countries.

The Kazakh delegation will present the functioning system 'Sailau' that is to allow to the seminar participants to practically see advantages and disadvantages of the system. It should be noted that international experts who familiarized with this Kazakh system already highly appraised the innovation.

Kuandyk Turgankulov emphasized that the Head of our State paid much attention to development and implementation in our country electronic voting system taking into account all international experience and in accordance with common democratic standards of electoral process.
