OSCE seminar on ensuring energy security held in Vilnius at initiative of Kazakhstan

ASTANA. September 13. KAZINFORM /Timur Bekturganov/ A two-day expert seminar of the OSCE started its work in Vilnius on Monday on issues of energy protection and strengthening the role of the Organization during the progress of international cooperation in this sphere.

The seminar was organized at the initiative of Kazakhstan jointly with diplomatic mission of Lithuania and the Office of the Coordinator of the OSCE Economic and Environmental activities. More than 200 representatives of expert community, international organizations, etc are to take part in the seminar.

The topic to discuss will be the measures on improvement of the activities of the Organization in the sphere of ensuring energy security within the OSCE region and establishing more favorable environment for developing relations between the member countries of the OSCE.

'Kazakhstan fully realized the importance of the energy security within the OSCE region as an integral part of the world security. Stable development of all member countries of the Organization depends on stability in this sphere as well', Deputy Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the OSCE Akan Rakhmetulin said.

OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut noted the importance of the Organization in preventing challenges to energy security in the region, in developing measures on overcoming them and uniting the member countries of the OSCE.
