OSCE Secretary General to attend CSTO Permanent Council meeting

MOSCOW.  October 22. KAZINFORM OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier will make a speech at an expanded meeting of the CSTO Permanent Council due in Moscow on 24 October, CSTO spokesman Vladimir Zainetdinov told.

The Permanent Council meeting will be attended by the plenipotentiary representatives of the CSTO member states (Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan) and also senior officials of the CSTO Secretariat and the joint staff. Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the CSTO member states have been invited to attend the meeting. At the end of the event CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha will hold a meeting with OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier, Kazinform has leant from BelTA.

"The CSTO and OSCE maintain good contacts on a wide range of pressing problems, with a focus on stability and security, conflict prevention and resolution throughout the Eurasian region. The organizations are engaged in a constructive and productive dialogue on assistance in the post-conflict settlement in Afghanistan, fighting terrorism and drug trafficking, political-military aspects. Contacts between the Secretaries General of the OSCE and CSTO have become regular. Mr Lamberto Zannier attended the CSTO Permanent Council meeting for the first time a year ago," Vladimir Zainetdinov said.
