OSCE reps visited Shymkent

Deputy Head of the OSCE Center in Astana Jeannette Kloetzer and Deputy Director of the OSCE Department at the Kazakh Foreign Affairs Ministry Yerbolat Sembayev met with Akim of South Kazakhstan region Askar Myrzakhmetov, representatives of public and nongovernmental organizations and the region's youth.

"These meetings are held in the light of the forthcoming chairmanship of Kazakhstan in our organization in 2010. Thus we want to tell about the purposes of the OSCE more thoroughly", Mrs. Jeannette Kloetzer said.

She noted that Kazakhstan received positive estimates of the world community on many parameters. For example, she noted the development of democratization. South Kazakhstan region has 923 social organizations.

Y. Sembayev said that Kazakhstan intends to attract such organizations as SCO, CICA and Islamic Conference to cooperate with the OSCE.
