OSCE invites CSTO to cooperate on larger scale
According to BelTA, Lamberto Zannier said that CSTO-OSCE cooperation has been developing productively and rapidly recently because the two organizations have a common goal - better security of the countries and citizens. The OSCE Secretary General remarked that cooperation between the two organizations evolves into practical forms. For instance, the OSCE took an active part in the CSTO operation "Kanal". The two organizations share the interest in stabilizing the situation in Afghanistan. The two organizations also cooperate in combating drugs trade and in preventing slave trade. Yet the OSCE Secretary General remarked that the two organizations could expand their cooperation in nature protection and human dimension.
"I believe that the CSTO could make a serious contribution to the creation of a single, common, and undivided Euro-Atlantic space from Vancouver to Vladivostok that would rely on common principles," said Lamberto Zannier.
He also spoke in favor of setting up a special mechanism to improve coordination between the two organizations.
