OSCE Chairman-in-Office and UN Sec-Gen express deep concern over situation in Kyrgyzstan
The sides expressed deep concern over the situation in Kyrgyzstan; the Kazakh MFA's press service informs.
K.Saudabayev informed the UN Secretary-General of Zhanybek Karibzhanov's appointment Special Representative of the Kazakh OSCE Chairmanship for Kyrgyzstan. Z.Karibzhanov is Deputy Chairman of the Majilis of the Kazakh Parliament, head of the Kazakh-Kyrgyz Interparliamentary Group and held rank of Kazakh Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary. He is expected to arrive in Kyrgyzstan in the nearest future.
Ban Ki-moon, in his turn, informed that Special Envoy-Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations-Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Jan Kubis is sent to Kyrgyzstan. In 2005 Jan Kubis was the OSCE Secretary-General and participated in regulation of the situation in Kyrgyzstan.
Kanat Saudabayev and Ban Ki-moon agreed on regular maintenance of contacts on the situation and coordination of the special envoys activities of the two organizations in Kyrgyzstan.
