OSCE Center in Bishkek responded quickly to events in Kyrgyzstan - Z.Karibzhanov

ALMATY. May 15. KAZINFORM /Aigul Turysbekova/ In the first days of the political crisis in Kyrgyzstan the OSCE Center in Bishkek managed to respond to urgent requests and promptly provide concrete support to the people's guards. Special Envoy of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office for Kyrgyzstan Zhanibek Karibzhanov has said it at a special session devoted to the situation in Kyrgyzstan held within the framework of the Trans-Asian Parliamentary Forum in Almaty.

According to him, the key direction is the establishment of stable social order and security of citizens and their property. The level of violence increased. The cases of looting, seizure of firearms, despotism spread widely throughout the country.
Z. Karibzhanov noted that the hotline of the Kyrgyz Internal Affairs Ministry financed by the OSCE provided an opportunity for citizens to contact the police in case of emergency. Presently, the Ministry collects weapons from the population. "The number of items of stolen weapons is known, but at the moment the Internal Affairs Ministry does not intend to disseminate information about the number and types of stolen weapons", the Envoy informed.
