OSCE can use Kazakhstan's Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative as model - U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton

ASTANA. November 30. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Kazakhstan's Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative can serve as a model for the OSCE states. Secretary of State of the U.S.A. Hillary Clinton who arrived in Astana for the OSCE Summit, has said it at a meeting with the representatives of the non-governmental organizations held at the Eurasian National L. Gumilyov University.
"The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) is an important idea. For any country extracting minerals three pillars must be mentioned: private sector; public sector and civil society", H. Clinton said.
The U.S. Secretary of State praised this initiative of Kazakhstan on transparency of extractive industry companies and said that it can serve as a model for the OSCE. In her opinion, Kazakhstani NGOs also play a vital role in ensuring transparency of the extractive industry companies.
