‘OSCE and Central Asia - Aspects of Cooperation’ roundtable held in Tashkent

ANA. September 26. KAZINFORM The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Tashkent held a roundtable on "OSCE and Central Asia - aspects of cooperation" devoted to the forthcoming Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the OSCE in 2010; the press-service of the Kazakh MFA said.

Heads of the diplomatic missions and representatives of the international organizations and mass media took part in the event.

It was underlined that according to President N. Nazarbayev Kazakhstan's chairmanship in this authoritative international organization is a nation-wide strategic project and the Government takes all possible efforts for its successful implementation. For this purpose a special state committee was created by Decree of the Head of the State the first session of which headed by Secretary of State Kanat Saudabayev held in Astana.

During its chairmanship in OSCE Kazakhstan will give special priority to the issues of further promotion for global and regional security, resolution of conflicts existing in OSCE zone of responsibility, strengthening of control over proliferation of armaments and weapon of mass destruction as well as extension of economic and humanitarian cooperation. It was noted that Kazakhstan's experience in strengthening of peace and accord between different ethnic groups will be useful for all OSCE member-states.

The special attention during the event was paid to exchange of views on strengthening of mutual cooperation between the Central Asian states and OSCE within the Kazakhstan's chairmanship in OSCE in 2010.
