Organizing committee of Trans-Asian Parliamentary Forum "Eurasian Dimension of the OSCE" held sitting in Astana

ASTANA. March 17. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Chairman of the Senate of the Kazakh Parliament Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev has held a sitting of the Organizing committee for preparation and holding the Trans-Asian Parliamentary Forum on "Eurasian Dimension of the OSCE" scheduled for May 14-16 in Almaty. The event will be held within Kazakhstan's OSCE chairmanship and under the aegis of this Organization.

"The Forum targets on further expansion of inter-parliamentary dialogue and cooperation, activation of parliamentarians' role in solution of the major tasks of the OSCE", K. Tokayev explained.

Head of a working group of the Organizing committee Murat Nurtleuov reported on the course of preparation for the Forum.

The program of the Forum provides for three sessions on: Regional security (Afghanistan, fight with terrorism and drug trafficking, disarmament), Eurasia: new markets and emerging threats (economic development, trade, resource management, labor migration, problems in environmental protection) and Human dimension of the OSCE (religious tolerance, political development, fight with human trafficking, gender equality).

About 350 delegates - deputies of the parliaments of the world community and international organizations - are expected to participate in the Trans-Asian Parliamentary Forum.
