Organizing committee for CIS 20th anniversary conference set up in Belarus

MINSK. April 4. KAZINFORM The organizing committee to prepare an international scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Independent States has been set up in Belarus. Such a decision was made in line with Resolution No. 406 of the Council of Ministers to implement the action plan for the CIS 20th anniversary celebrations, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian government.

Sergei Rumas, Deputy Prime Minister, National Coordinator of Belarus for the CIS, will head the organizing committee.

In line with the resolution, the scientific and practical conference "20 Years of the Commonwealth of Independent States" will take place at the CIS headquarters in Minsk on 28-29 September.

CIS member states and bodies are responsible for organizing 36 events, according to the action plan. For instance, CIS executive bodies will hold a number of sessions to discuss the development of the CIS since its foundation in 1991 while Moscow will host an interstate exhibition "The CIS: 20 years on". Moreover, CIS member states will host the CIS Week, specialized forums, festivals, contests and sport events, publish a memorable album, and launch a cycle of television programs; Kazinform refers to BelTA.
