Opportunities of activating Kazakh-Korean coop in economic sphere debated in Almaty
The forum is a dialogue platform which is foreseen for elaboration of mechanisms to increase the level of trade-economic cooperation between South Korea and states of Central Asia. According to chief research scientist of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies Vyacheslav Dadonov, following results of 2010 Korea as an importer of the Kazakh production is the 21st among main trade partners, and the share of exports to Korea from Kazakhstan makes only 0.4 percent. The total volume of all investments from Korea to Kazakhstan makes more than USD 1.5 bln.
In his opinion, there is great potential in the sphere of direct investments in Kazakhstan's economy. As of the first quarter of 2011 most investments are directed to the transactions with real estate, services to enterprises, construction, financial activity and commerce. Korea is known in the world as a leader in the information and advanced technologies in industry. "There is great potential in diversification of the Korean investments and their reorientation in the manufacturing industry. The Korean businessmen should pay attention to the state programs on development and modernization of the manufacturing industry, creation of joint business in engineering and other fields," he said.
The expert considers that today the countries face the task on entering the new strategic path of cooperation. It is solution of problems of the global economic development, removal of threats and challenges. "These factors can become a basis for construction of new strategies of cooperation between South Korea and Kazakhstan," he emphasized.
