Opening ceremony of Year of Germany in Kazakhstan to be held on February 3 in Astana

ASTANA. January 19. KAZINFORM Activities that will be held within the Year of Germany in Kazakhstan were presented in the German Embassy in Kazakhstan on Tuesday, January 19. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Kazakhstan Rainer Schlageter and representatives of the Goethe Institute said that the opening ceremony of the Year of Germany in Kazakhstan would take place on February 3, 2010 in the Palace of Peace and Accord in Astana along with a concert of the German Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra of Bremen.

Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office of Germany Cornelia Pieper is expected to take part in the ceremony.

"Modern Germany" traveling exhibition will be presented in Astana as well. Over 60 events will be held within the Year. They will be held in Astana, Almaty and the regions of Kazakhstan.

The Year of Germany in Kazakhstan 2010 is a continuation of the activities held within the Year of Kazakhstan in Germany 2009. According to the German diplomats and members of the German representations, these thematic activities promote dialogue between Germany and Kazakhstan and complement political partnership of the two countries.

As the German Ambassador noted, such projects allow to carry through international exchange and build bridges between Europe and Central Asia.
