One more spill response base needed in the Caspian Sea -Kulekeev

ASTANA. June 22. KAZINFORM - The Caspian Sea needs creation of one more base for oil spill response, said Advisor to the General Director of "KING" JSC Zhaksybek Kulekeev. As stated by Kulekeev, the lack of North Caspian environmental response base, recently established, has been its inability to participate in liquidation of emergency at sea in the winter time. It's a few months of the year when the Urals and the Caspian Sea ice is thick and ships from a base will not be able to go to sea.
"Of particular concern, in my opinion, pose not artificial islands or mining, but numerous tankers carrying oil across the Caspian Sea. So we have to be ready for any incident involving an oil tanker, which requires a base, which will be capable to urgently respond to any incident at any time of the year ", said J. Kulekeev.
