Kim, who rose to global stardom during the Olympics thanks to a highlight clip from an earlier competition, will play an assassin in "Crush," a spinoff, short-form series of the film "Asia," the Seoul-based entertainment company Asia Lab said Thursday.

Directed by Lee Jung-sub, also CEO of Asia Lab, the film "Asia" explores stories of individuals confronting racial hatred and discrimination, and features a cast of American and Asian actors, including Indian star Anushka Sen.

Kim won the silver medal in the women's 10-meter air pistol event at the Paris Olympics in July, but it was a video from her world record-breaking performance at the world championships from May that went viral on social media.

Commenting on the video circulating on X showing Kim exuding cool and detached vibes, Elon Musk, owner of the social media platform, wrote: "She should be cast in an action movie. No acting required!"

In August, Kim signed with a South Korean talent agency to help her manage her extracurricular activities and did a magazine photo shoot for Louis Vuitton.

Kim has said she would remain open to doing activities away from the range as long as they can promote her sport.
