Number of athletes with disabilities has grown - Sport and Physical Education Agency
According to the representatives of the Agency, in 2009 in sports there were 12,000 people with disabilities. In 2012 their number was 16,600. For the disabled in the country there are 7 sports clubs: in Astana , Almaty, Zhambyl, North Kazakhstan, Mangistau, Almaty and Atyrau regions. In addition, there are 2 schools of Wheelchair Sports. These institutions involve more than 2,500 people.
It has been stressed that Kazakhstan annually holds more than 40 international and national competitions in sports among all categories of disabled persons. By the way, the last - the 2012 Summer Paralympic Games in London - was attended by seven Kazakhstan's Paralympians. Among them there are the most 3 distinguished athletes. They were in the top ten in athletics and powerlifting and in swimming, in general, having raised the Asian record.
