Norway and Kazakhstan have common vision of oil industry development - Statoil rep Hege Marie Norheim

After a session Mrs. Norheim gave an exclusive interview for pm.kz site.

You represent one of the largest oil and gas companies of Norway. Please, tell us, how did your country succeeded in development of the oil industry?

I would like to congratulate all Kazakhstanis on the upcoming jubilee - the 20^th anniversary of Independence. It is very significant date in the history of your country.

Norway's policy concerning development of the oil and gas sector is very similar to the position of your country. We consider development of the oil and gas industry as one of the methods to improve the social sphere. Hence owing to the social element, we can guarantee welfare of our generations. I think that our countries have common vision of development of the oil industry.

I suppose that we could share technologies with Kazakhstan in the sphere of deposits development. Norway has great experience in using environmentally sound methods.

You touched upon urgent matter regarding environmental security. In your opinion, how it is possible to minimize impact of the modern energy field on the environment?

When it concerns the environment of the specific country, it is important that the government establishes exacting requirements and cooperates with captive companies and trade unions.

In my opinion, one of the important features of Norway is close cooperation between captive companies and the power. Talking about more global problem such as climate change, I think that the oil and gas industry can be a part of the problem's solution. And Kazakhstan can contribute via energy resources supplies to other countries, their using and monetization.
