North and Central Asia can revitalize their economy
Despite the problems in the euro zone and unstable world commodity prices, the countries of North and Central Asia can withstand shocks and maintain their economic growth by making it more comprehensive due to diversification of production and markets. This was stated by members of ESCAP high-level dialogue called "Macroeconomic policies for sustainable and reliable growth in North and Central Asia."
As the representatives of Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific noted their economies, focused mainly on export of goods and labor and which are seeking to restore their high level of economic growth that preceded the global economic crisis and to make it sustainable, comprehensive and reliable, can benefit from closer trade and investment ties with the Asia-Pacific region.
"Today there has been the opening and during two days there will be discussion of the matters with regard to fiscal, monetary policy, regional corporations, and infrastructure development in the region. We believe that this is a very useful event. We hope that these debates will be beneficial for all the involved. And on the one hand we will be able to tell people about the experience that we had, and on the other hand, we will be analyzing what is being done in other countries, " said the head of the National Bank of Kazakhstan Grigory Marchenko.
Also in his speech, Chairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan Mr. Marchenko stressed the importance of a balanced and inclusive growth for the big region: "The economic progress of the countries of Central Asia will depend on their ability to maintain a balanced and inclusive growth."
