New rules on ‘Newton Al-Farabi’ program to be submitted to Government by Oct

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan was requested to submit to the Government by October the new rules under "Newton Al-Farabi" program, said Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gulshara Abdikalykova.

"Within the framework of international cooperation, together with the Ministry of State for Business, Innovation and skills, UK there have being elaborated a 5-year international program called "Newton Al-Farabi". The program aims to support joint innovation and research", said G.Abdikalykova during the August meeting of teachers. Share of participation of each side will be 50%. Project's volume of funding will be KZT 1.2 billion per year. "Ministry of Education will have to submit to the Government the new rules of the program by October of the current year", added G.Abdikalykova. According to her, currently over 100 major research programs in the field of metallurgy, biotechnology, medicine, physics and energy are being implemented. "An important strategic direction is to strengthen the relationship between science and the real sector of the economy, encouraging business participation in scientific research. This requires new public-private partnership", concluded the Vice-Premier.
