New reserve center of National Bank is under establishment - B.Tadzhiyakov

ASTANA. January 20. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ A new reserve center of the National Bank is under creation in Astana. Deputy Chairman of the National Bank Bissengaly Tadzhiyakov has announced it at a roundtable "On status and prospects of development of clearing settlement in the Republic of Kazakhstan" held in the Kazakh Majilis.
"Development of the payment system has a tendency of dynamical growth. Over past five years the volume of payments that have passed through the payment system increased by 22 times, and their number - by 1.2 times. In 2010 300 million transactions amounting to KZT 188 trln (USD 1.3 trln) were conducted through the payment system", B.Tadzhiyakov said.
According to him, work on creation of the new reserve center in Astana is in progress. The project is aimed at ensuring smooth functioning of the payment system in the event of an emergency of any nature where the primary centre locates, including as a result of a strong earthquake in Almaty city.
