New law on subsoil management is needed – S. Mynbayev

"The current law was adopted in 1996. Time is getting on, the situation is changing. Despite the fact that several amendments were introduced to the law, it has a lot of shortcomings. In the process of work over this issue we realized that a new law is needed", S. Mynbayev said.
The Minister noted that the draft law provides the participation of state bodies in subsoil management. The activity of the inter-agency committee on implementation of priority rights of the states, the committee granting rights for mining operations as well as the committee for mineral deposit expertise is specified as well.
S. Mynbayev emphasized that such committees are working at present but the current law on subsoil and subsoil management do not specify their functions and authorities.
As a whole the draft law is aimed at developing a legal regulation mechanism in subsoil management.
