To eliminate the ingress of water seepage into the soil and ground water around the perimeter of the slurry tank the drainage system has been equipped. Water that accumulates in is pumped back into the map, three pump stations are forming a vicious cycle. To ensure protection of the soil around the blade there has been built solid grout curtain - "slurry wall" of water-resistant materials. Total size is 230 hectares. The length of each side is equal to 1.5 km. The cost of the project amounts to $140 million.

Construction of a new hydraulic structure began in 2007, and the need for its construction was increase in production volumes and, consequently, waste processing bauxite.

"Protection of environment for us is a priority", says the president of "Kazakhstan Aluminium" Almaz Ibragimov. "At this place we have put all the best practices for safe storage of waste production. Construction is subjected to regular, strict monitoring. It is specially equipped with a measurement system for determining the level of filtering".

Slurry tank is under the scrutiny of the state supervisory authorities. Regular inspections are carried out, and their results support the safety of hydraulic structures of the plant to the public and the environment.

Strong evidence is the ecosystem around the drives. There are adjacent lakes full of fish.
