New Delhi alarmed by first swine flu death

The family of the schoolgirl, Rida Shaikh, has vowed to sue a private hospital in Pune for criminal negligence while Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said the treatment was "too late" to save the girl.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, who was informed of the death of Rida late night on Monday, blamed the hospital and said that Rida had been in fact a victim of the doctors and hospital's negligence.

Chavan who discussed the death of the girl with senior health officials at his residence said that Rida's death was very unfortunate. He said that the government health officials would investigate and find out as to why proper medical treatment was not provided to the girl; Kazinform cites Arab News.
